BRUSHES MADE FROM SQUIRREL HAIR

Squirrels have splendid tails - the part which is used in brushes production. Tails taken from Siberian squirrels have hairs up to 9cm. The maximal thickness of the single hair is not more than 0,07mm. The hair tip is so thin, that it is hard to see it even under a magnifying glass. Brushes made from this material are good only for liquid paints, and it is irreplaceable for watercolor!

Furriers all over the world have always appreciated this kind of hair. This fur is very popular in Russia, and Russian brushmakers are not short of this material. The most part of the fells are bought on the fur auctions by Chinese furriers. Then they wash the hair and make tufts, which are used by brushmakers all over the world. With the material available we couldn't get a brush with a fine tip. Hair tips were broken after mechanical treatment. Aiming at creating a perfect brush we had to begin to treat the hair ourselves - manually. Now the hair is straight and resilient. Our tufts are piebald, but the quality is highly appreciated by many artists.

We produce series "Master" from the selected Siberian squirrel hair. They suit professional artists perfectly. Production bundle includes brushes from squirrel hair with full or fine belly. Flat brushes have standard length-out. We also produce porcelain and gilding brushes, squirrel hair is widely used for producing special and hobby brushes.
